Here is our entry for the Daily Post: Weekly Photo Challenge. The topic is Force of Nature
Wind has shaped these trees, but they still provide shelter for local sheep
Here, in the south west of England, we are lucky not to have tremendous weather events. But we do get a lot of wind on the moors here. Trees that have been wind shaped since they started growing are a common sight on the moors and are evidence of the force of nature.. a more persistent and quieter force, but still effective.
You can’t live on Exmoor without seeing sheep everywhere. Here are a pair of twins, double trouble for their mum, but she looks calm enough !
Hardy Exmoor sheep
Bent against natures force,
Stark and leafless.
As age and sharp winds take their toll
Age rings speak
Of years stood tall.
On wild hills
As trees pull against their roots.
Holding for long
Against the elements
Waiting on Spring
Again to be strong.
