Took a detour down a country lane in Wales to get away from the hoardes of caravans and motorcycles , to be rewarded with the most perfect sea of blue.
Just back from an amazing trip to Wales, where the weather was glorious and nature was in its finest colours.
Living here on Exmoor, the landscape views can be spectacular, if a little bleak when its grey. This was taken on a lovely Spring day.
The blog post is in response to the Daily Post – Weekly Photo Challenge of ” Landscape”
This week, the Daily Post Photo Challenge is to share a shot of something I saw, did, or experienced on the way: a photo not of my destination, but of an interesting thing along the way. The unexpected beauty in a mundane moment.
On the way to visit my sister I noticed that this field of wheat had lines of wheat piled up- I found out later that these are called ” hay stooks” apparently the purpose of these practices is to protect unthreshed grain, hay or straw from moisture until it can be picked up and brought into long-term storage. Luckily the gate was easy to climb so I grabbed a quick shot before I went “on my way”.
For Cee’s Fun Foto challenge this week …Spring has arrived in Wales!
The Weekly Challenge is Serenity. For me, there is nothing more serene than an english garden in Summer, a gentle breeze, the sounds of bees and the aroma of lavender. So this picture really sums up Serenity for me.
We are going to throw ourselves into this week’s challenge from Cee and her Fun Foto challenge! The challenge is to interpret the chorus of ” You are my Sunshine”, which goes something like this:
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine you make me happy when skies are grey you’ll never know dear, how much I love you, please don’t take my sunshine away.
You are my sunshine, My only sunshine, you make me happy
When skies are grey
You’ll never know , deer, how much I love you, please don’t take my sunshine away

Now hidden in cloud, and now revealed,
As if this phantom, full of pain,
Were by the crumbling walls concealed,
And at the windows seen again.
Until at last, serene and proud
In all the splendor of her light,
She walks the terraces of cloud,
Supreme as Empress of the Night.
I look, but recognize no more
Objects familiar to my view;
The very pathway to my door
Is an enchanted avenue.
All things are changed. One mass of shade,
The elm-trees drop their curtains down;
By palace, park, and colonnade
I walk as in a foreign town.
The very ground beneath my feet
Is clothed with a diviner air;
While marble paves the silent street
And glimmers in the empty square.
Illusion! Underneath there lies
The common life of every day;
Only the spirit glorifies
With its own tints the sober gray.
In vain we look, in vain uplift
Our eyes to heaven, if we are blind;
We see but what we have the gift
Of seeing; what we bring we find.
We were very happy to be chosen as one of Cee’s featured Bloggers last week for “Bridge”. This week, her challenge is for landscape or seascape photos. Check out the other posts and her great blog here.
This photo was taken from Coleton Fishacre, a National Trust property in Devon
This is the view on a short walk away from where I live on Exmoor
Finally, a view over to Brentor Church on Dartmoor.
